For everyone who is excited about the newly released iPhone 12 and are thinking of getting yourself either the iPhone 12 or the iPhone 12 pro, please do check out the iFixit teardown video and make your decision then.
Here is the video of the iFixit livestream that they did on the 23rd of October 2020.
Basically everything is exactly the same including the new A14 Bionic chip and battery (the first time!) apart from the cameras and camera shield. The iPhone 12 includes a dual camera module (a 12-megapixel wide-angle and 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle) while the 12 Pro has a triple camera setup with an additional 12-megapixel telephoto lens.
The battery in both the new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 pro is the 2,815mAh battery, which is smaller than 3,110mAh on the iPhone 11 and 3,046mAh battery on the 11 Pro. So be prepared for a cable to charge your phone all the time. Oh noooo!
For those who always break their phones and need to send for repairs, please read on. For its repairability score, iFixit gave the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro a six out of 10 (10 being the easiest to repair). While its important parts are modular and easy to find or replace, the glass on the front and back make it super fragile — so you’ll most likely have gut the entire phone and replace the body itself if you break it.
So you are paying almost $350 extra for one extra 12-megapixel telephoto lens. What do you think?
